chantie The first time i REALLY met per was in freiburg, germany. the fanclub was going to interview per and marie before the show. i am in the fanclubteam too and came along just for the fun of it. totally unexpected i was let back stage as well, we where put in a tiny room. about half an hour later, i heard them in the hall and then the door openen... marie looked at me with those amazing eyes of her, smiled and shook my hand. i mumbled my name... then per walked to me (room was so small, they had to go past me first hehehe), also put out his hand. i looked at it before i dared to grab it, smiled at him and then said my name again (i think, memories are a bit blurry)... he looked at me as if i was some kind of art in a gallary. i only said my name, nothing moer came out and he raised his eyebrows as if he was saying: yeah, so?! i was shocked, somehow didn't expect them to look SO good FOR REAL!!! then i was allowed to stare at them for 10 mins while my friend did the interview. sigh. I was a fan of the songs on Look Sharp, but when Joyride came out, I was hooked!! :) I immediately went out and bought the CD and fell hopelessly in love with Per. ;) I had this trading-card type thing that I had just randomly gotten that had Roxette on it, and I stared at it all the time! I finally got to see them in concert at the height of the Joyride craze, in 1992 in Atlanta. It was amazing! Memory fades over time, but there were (at least) three amazing events there. He's much nicer to fans than most other artists are, and unless it's a really bad situation or if you approach him the wrong way, he'll be very kind and polite to you...if you're lucky he'll be really sweet too! But he won't ignore you or pass you by like most other artists do...and for what I know he's still a bit shy and feels akward when talking to strangers...I met him in EMI offices and also in front of his old flat in Halmstad, so no, there was no press, or media, or anybody else actually! You say it probably depends on how you approach him. He might be all kind and sweet if you meet him at a concert cause then he's doing what he likes, the press is there, he's promoting Roxette and so on, but when he's doing the boring part of being a popstar you might meet his cold side. Also I was not annoying or rude in any way when I approached him. I was on the dancefloor when I suddenly spotted him at the bar (behind the bar actually) in a corner and I considered for a while wether I should go over and say hi or not. I decided to go over only to not be an anonymous fan anymore. He was surrounded by friends/people he knows so I leaned against the bar next to all the people (but still pretty close to Per) and then I waited for him to finish talking with all those people. I was looking at him almost all the time just to make sure he noticed me. One of the people around him were looking at me a bit suspiciously as he was afraid I was some freak fan who would scream and faint at the sight of Per, but I just ignored that guy. Of course the only 2 seconds I wasn't looking at Per but had just turned my head elsewhere he said hi to me and shook my hand and you know the rest. So did I approach him in any way that would make any person cold towards the other? I don't think so. I think it was because of either what I said before conditions/mood and all that, or maybe his real personality is to be a bit cold towards his fans? We all know he is a bit shy (or was when he was younger, in the beginning of GTs career). On a different note I also think Per is getting a bit too conscious about all the millions he owes. It's finally after all these years getting to his head. In the old days you didn't hear him talk about designerclothes and expensive cars all the time and I also think he could give more money to charity than he does. I can't really explain how I got this impression.. it's just a feeling from the medias (among others Halmstad's local newspaper). Don't think I only think negative of Per after all that I've written.
