Per Gessle Junior was born last Tuesday to the sound of "Yellow submarine"
with The Beatles, at Karolinska sjukhuset (hospital) in Stockholm. Then
did "dad the popstar" start operation "secret baby".
Roxette's and Gyllene Tider's front figure Per
Gessle has become a dad. They got a boy, called Ringo. He was
born last Tuesday on Karolinska sjukhuset in Stockholm. But it wasn't supposed
that you should have read the good news today. Per Gessle tried to keep
the birth secret. No one knows really why. This is the operation "secret
baby" step by step:
Per Gessle disclosed in March that they were
waiting their first baby. He said in interviews that the baby would be
born in September. But the truth was that the birth would be in the month-change
July/August.
Per Gessle said in April in an interview with
Aftonbladet:
- I'm not the guy who feels any need of changing diapers. I'm happy
that Åsa is so "mummy" and loves children. And I'm really happy if
Åsa and eventually also a nanny will take care of that and let me
sleep." An interview which got strong reactions.
Tuesday the 5th of August.At lunch Aftonbladet
got the news that the Gessle-pair had arrived to Karolinska sjukhuset in
Per's car, a Range Rover. Per was carrying a suit-case. On a question at
17.00 the same day Per said that he would be a dad in a couple of days.
"We are only here to make some tests", he said. But the truth was that
Gessle Jr already was born, the same day. The nurses denied that Åsa
Gessle was in the hospital.
Wednesday the 6th of August. Per Gessle outside
Karolinska sjukhuset: "My wife Åsa is in the hospital because of
to high bloodpressure". Per walked in with a bag and flowers. The son with
the workname Ringo (after the drumer Ringo Starr in The
Beatles) was now one day old.
Thursday the 7th August. Gessle parked his car
wrong with purpose to cheat Aftonbladet when he should sneek in to his now
two days old son.The wrongparked car was almost towed away.
At lunch on Thursday a Swedish weekly magazine
phoned to Åsa Gessle's mother who said too much, she confirmed that
Gessle Jr had been born. Per Gessle's plan to keep the birth secret some
more days had failed.
At 14.41 on Thursday a faxed announcement arrived
to Aftonbladet. This said that Gessle Jr had been born - last Tuesday.
and his weight was 3.680 g.
The recordcompany's PR-section informed that
photos will be taken by Mattias Edwall, the same man who took the
photos to Per Gessle's cover, and they will be distributed in a couple
of days to all media.
Åsas father - grandfather Jonny
- was phoned at 18.00 by Aftonbladet, who congratulated to his new grandson
Gessle Jr. "I'm not familiar with that. Has it happen today? Wasn't it
in September it would happen? I have no comments.", answered grandfather
Jonny.
Somewhere in Karolinska sjukhuset is a 3,6 kg-baby sleeping, totally
unaware of the commotion his birth has caused.
Micke "Syd" gives his
best daddy-tips
Micke "Syd" Andersson from Gyllene Tider knows what it means to be
a dad. Here is his tip to Per Gessle:
- Kiss the baby often.
The drumer Micke "Syd" Andersson has practical knowledge
of what the word "dad" means. Aftonbladet asked him to share his knowledge
with the new dad Per Gessle.
- Baby and Gessle, isn't that the same thing, he first says and laughs.
This is Micke's advises:
The baby cries: "Take him up in your
arms and hug him, then tell him about the latest STIM-report."
The baby smells bad: "If it's down there,
change diaper. But watch out, it may come more!"
The baby vomits: "Hide!"
The child sits in the Ferrari and is painting
on the leatherseats: "Smile. There are more seats."
The child uses the record-collection as
frisbee: "Do like Tomas Ravelli. Save all that can be saved"
The child can't sleep: "Gyllene Tider
use to work as cradle songs, I know. Otherwise, try to sing some new demos
and see if they work."
General advise as a dad: "Work after
the principle "live and learn". You'll find out when you do something wrong.
Don't forget that it's important to kiss the baby a lot and often."

"Very fun, now my kids
are getting a cousin"

- Per phoned us last Tuesday evening and said that he had got a son.
My spontaneaus comment is that it's very fun that they have got this baby,
which they have been longing for so long. My kids are also happy, now they
are getting a cousin. We will probably meet them next week.

- Really fun that they have got a baby. Per Gessle will probably be
a good father. I talked with them both earlier today (read: yesterday)
and they feel wonderful and are very happy. With the birth in mind I think
that Åsa is surprising healthy right now.

- I heard it today. I suppose it's fun and I wish them good luck. But
is his name Ringo? I definitly think they shall let the boy keep that name.

so long to get a baby. I have known in some days that the baby was soon
to come. I met Åsa and Per in town last Saturday and then Åsa
