In 1999, internet was quite new for me, and basically browsing and email were my major priorities. The urge to learn more about computing and the curiosity to know how websites worked made me decide I wanted to "be part of it". So, earlier, in 1999, just after "Have A Nice Day" was released I started playing around in my 486 machine with some HTML files from the "Official Queen Website". I placed Ayrton Senna as a background and fooled around a bit.

At first it was all copy-paste work, and I started editeing text and changing images. I was just getting around the code, understanding the basics. As a theme I chose "Roxette" for both very clear reasons. First, I liked the band. Secondly, there was a lot of material I could use to have something to "fill in". Little by little the "Official Queen Website" turned out to be "Peter's Roxette Website". I was proud of it, but now I realise I could've been sued by them! :D Anyway, browsing around, I registered "pgm.roxette.org" not actually knowing what I had applied for, but "pgm" (my initials) looked quite handsome beside the "roxette" name. However, when I finished what became my first website, I didn't know how to connect onto FTP (boy I made Dan suffer) and so chose the easy geocities method. It was called "HaveANiceJoyride". Weeks later (or even months) I managed to get through to roxette.org and so decided to move "haveanicejoyride" to "enjoy.roxette.org" which went well with the site name. I therefore had this other spare domain I just HAD to use.

So, January 2000 came and on this Saturday evening with nothing much to do, I remembered about this "extra" domain. What to put in there? Something new. PGM....PG?...Peter?...Pe..r..G...essle! That was it... I just needed the practice, so a new design, more HTML... in one night I had a very small website named after Per's album "The World According To Gessle". "Gessle According To The World" was the name. However, I needed something new to make the website special...unique. I looked at the title and there it was: "to ask people (the world) what they thought about him. Easy. There it was.

Nothing much happened since then. One or two design changes, and yes, a few visits...however, making updates was a real pain, and little by little I stopped updating it at a regular basis. That meant losing hits...

Four years later things have changed. HTML was now to easy but not enough to fit my website needs. So in came PHP. Starting off with the basics for gyllenetider.com and my own petermills.com I decided to rescue pergessle.net and make it worth-while for my PHP learning and for the users' browsing. It actually looks like a portal system and the programming helps out with the updates very much... remember, there is much more behind the website than you think. It is basically all dynamic.
